Switzerland has announced funding of 2,8 million Swiss francs (Tk 25 crore) for Bangladesh in the immediate response to the coronavirus pandemic fallout.
According to a statement by the Swiss Embassy in Dhaka, the fund will be used by local and international partner organizations.
“As nations across the globe are suffering from the challenges raised by the Covid-19 pandemic, Bangladesh stands by Switzerland in addressing this crisis and implementing an effective response,” it said.
Switzerland continues to assess additional response initiatives in cooperation with Bangladesh, civil society, development partners and donor organizations, in order to avoid and reduce Covid-19 threats in Bangladesh much better and faster. Switzerland also contributed CHF 14.4 million (Tk 126 crore) to the UN’s global appeal for Covid-19 and the International Red Cross and Red Crescent movement
