Spain’s death rate due to coronavirus crosses 18,000

Spain recorded 567 deaths from the latest coronavirus on Tuesday, a small rise after a one-day fall, taking the total number of fatalities to 18,056 — officially the world’s third highest after the United States and Italy.

According to the health ministry, the smallest increase since the country implemented a nationwide lockdown on March 14 to curb the spread of the virus has raised the number of new infections by 1.8 per cent to 172,541 cases.
